Blog

Posted 9 months ago

The Bermondsey Project is inviting artists to apply for two new public art commissions, which will play a central role in celebrating Bermondsey’s heritage and enriching the public realm.

The commissions include a landmark West Yard sculpture and a series of wind mitigation artworks at Main Yard. Both artworks will be developed during 2026 and installed by March 2027, with community collaboration at the heart of the process.

The Public Art Opportunities

  1. West Yard Sculpture

A large‑scale sculptural installation positioned at the heart of the public realm.

  • Budget: £210,000
  • Seeking: Mid‑career artists with experience delivering technical, large‑scale commissions
  1. Wind Mitigation Artworks

Four artistic interventions integrated into wind‑mitigation structures at Main Yard.

  • Budget: £35,000
  • Seeking: Emerging and mid‑career artists, collectives, and studios

Community Engagement

Community participation will be central to both commissions. Shortlisted and appointed artists will take part in workshops and engagement activities with residents, schools, community groups, and local makers, ensuring the artworks reflect Bermondsey’s past, present, and future.
