Square Roots appointed as the Registered Provider for the Social Rent homes

Blog

Posted 2 years ago

We’re pleased to announce the appointment of London Square who will deliver 338 homes for social rent at The Bermondsey Project, with affordable housing provider Square Roots confirmed as the Registered Provider who will ultimately manage the homes.

London Square, renowned for its commitment to high-quality and sustainable development, will act as the delivery partner and oversee the construction of the social rent homes. Social rent buildings O, P, Q, and W were granted detailed planning consent, and a Reserved Matters Application is being progressed which will finalise details of Building V. This is now being considered by Southwark Council officers.

Square Roots was established as an independent housing provider by award-winning developer London Square in 2021 and became a Registered Provider in 2022.

The Bermondsey Project will deliver 25% of the 1,624 homes as social rent, allocated by Southwark Council to those most in need. A further 10% will be ‘affordable homes’, provided at a Discount Market Rent.

Upon completion, these homes will be owned and managed by Square Roots, who will ensure long-term affordability and accessibility for prospective residents.

The confirmation of London Square and Square Roots involvement in The Bermondsey Project marks a significant milestone and a crucial step in addressing London’s housing crisis.

We look forward to progressing this important development, which will provide much-needed social housing and contribute to the revitalisation of the Bermondsey area.
