The Southwark Business Excellence Awards celebrate the successes of the borough’s expansive and dynamic business community.

On the 15th February 2024, The Bermondsey Project team attended the awards ceremony, held at Southwark College’s flagship building where the 2023 winners were announced.

Fifty businesses were nominated across seven categories. Four winners were determined through a public vote, while finalists for Sustainable Green Investment and Contribution to the Community were evaluated by our panel of judges. The Independent Business category, sponsored by Greystar, involved both a public vote and a judging process.

The program is coordinated by White Label on behalf of both the Southwark Chamber of Commerce and Southwark Council. It is tailored to cater to enterprises of all sizes and types, including start-ups, SMEs, and large corporations.

“Congratulations to all the business shortlisted in this category. Independent businesses are the backbone of our economy, driving growth, creativity, and resilience in communities. We recognize the dedication and hard work that goes into building and sustaining these ventures and we are proud to sponsor this category and celebrate their accomplishments.

Musical Mayhem’s stood out for its remarkable contributions to the community. Through initiatives such as offering discounts and bursaries to support families and transitioning into a Community Interest Company, they demonstrate a strong commitment to social responsibility. Their mission to utilize performing arts as a tool for fostering confidence and unlocking creativity in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing atmosphere is truly commendable.” – Bronwyn Jones, Greystar, Development Director
