Greystar has nearly 30 years’ experience investing, delivering and managing rental housing. We have been active in the UK market since 2013, during which time we have delivered nearly 10,000 residential units in London, establishing a high-quality rental housing portfolio.
The Bermondsey Project is Greystar’s fifth large-scale rental housing development in London, with other established housing developments across the city; Greenford in West London, Sailmakers in East London, Nine Elms in Central London and Croydon in South London.
Greenford Quay
Greenford Quay by Greystar is London’s largest purpose-built rental community and will ultimately deliver 2,118 new homes set within a new public realm overlooking the Grand Union Canal in Ealing.
The first phase (Tillermans) opened its doors in 2019 and includes 379 apartments. Through significant upfront investment, Greenford Quay was delivered ahead of schedule, welcoming people back into an area which has sat derelict for decades.
Like the Bermondsey Project, Greenford Quay was designed specifically with renting in mind from the outset.
It was important to us that we engaged with the existing local community early, and brought them along on the journey through delivery, and integration with the new community members. Out of this approach emerged our now exceptionally successful community event programmes.
Through careful and considered outreach, we have built partnerships and activated not only our community, but also the larger neighbourhood. These efforts (which will continue beyond delivery) have previously included monthly markets, a canal festival, social networking events, charity Christmas dinners, summer film showings, and – most importantly to many – outdoor screenings of the UEFA European Football Championship matches. These are events that both our residents and the wider community attend and benefit from are proving successful in creating a warm sense of community for all to enjoy.
In addition, we support local communities, encouraging collections for food banks and supporting local charities. We look to partner with established and local events in the area, further embedding ourselves into the local community.
We look forward to taking learnings from our Greenford Quay community engagement programme and applying them in similar initiatives in Bermondsey in future.
